Morning Meeting Ideas for Distance, Hybrid, or In-Person Learning

Morning meeting is such a must in our classrooms. It provides an important start to the day for both students and teachers and much needed connection. This is especially crucial in the era of COVID-19 where everyone is (literally) at a distance. Need morning meeting ideas? It may feel like this routine is a thing of the past when you’re over a screen or unable to engage in traditional cooperative learning activities. With a little creativity and some new morning meeting ideas, it can still happen!!

I know the struggle.

I created some year-long resources that include daily slides for Morning Meeting that can be utilized in any classroom setting.  That’s right – distance, hybrid, or in-person. There are literally 520 slides to take you through 26 full weeks of the school year! This Morning Meeting routine follows the framework from Responsive Classroom. Each day includes a greeting, share, activity, and a daily message from the teacher. All greetings, shares and activities can be completed through any teaching format with very little tweaks. Each day is no-prep and requires no materials outside of a computer/projector, Google Slides, and the internet.

Developing morning meeting ideas can be exhausting!

We want this special time in our day to be engaging, welcoming, and fun. It takes a lot of brain power as a teacher to create a simple lesson to engage all of your students socially! The slides I’ve created are designed for either K-2 or 3-5 grade students. Not sure which ones will really work for you? I have created a free week preview for both K-2 and 3-5 so you can see the small nuances I have considered for our older and younger learners.

Engagement and personalization all in one!

Some repetition of activities and greetings across the school year can be fun for kids. However, with this product, every day switches it up so students engage in activities like coping skill practice, emotion identification, and cultural exposure. A few activities just aren’t jiving with your students? There are blank versions of each slide included in the paid versions so you can add in whatever activities work best for you as needed.

Get going!

$35 a lot to spend on a year long resource? I totally get it. Try out DonorsChoose.org (here’s some ideas for successful results), asking your PTA/PTO, emailing your administration to see if they’ll purchase through TPT for Schools, or create a TPT ClassFund.

Have you used the Morning Meeting slides? I would love to hear about how they’re going for you, if you have feedback for me, and see some of your amazing work in action! Tag me on instagram at @_missbehavior and be sure to leave feedback on TPT to get product credits. I read every single one!
